‘ukulele instructor

Uncle Justin Murphy Pohaku is a treasure to us at San Diego Hula Academy.  He is a fun-loving, patient teacher who happens to be amazing at playing ukulele.

Uncle has been playing ukulele for 6 years and has become prolific in his repertoire of Hawaiian and English songs.  He has a deep love for Hawai’i, it’s culture and music, and can be found at the center of most kanikapila (impromptu jam sessions) and leading the group in the latest songs.

In addition to playing ukulele, uncle has been a kāne dancer for 6 years and has participated in E Hula Mau.
